The Trojan War of 650BC: Fractured History

Homer's Iliad tells the story of the Trojan War, that huge power struggle for a woman called Helen between the Trojans of Hector, son and General of Priam King of Troy, and the Achaeans of mighty King Agamemnon along with his slighted brother Menelaus, King of the Spartans.

This war was supposedly initiated by the all consuming love affair between Paris, brother of Hector, and Helen daughter of Tyndares who, after being betrothed to Menelaus King of Sparta, was spirited away by her lover Paris to Troy of the Ilium.

The fate of Troy was sealed by the immense invasion of all the Greeks and allies under King Agamemnon and his brother Menelaus, leading to the epic battle for Trojan lands, and the inevitable encounter between the ferocious and God-like Achilles with his Feared Myrmidons, and Heroic Hector with his Deadly Trojan Horse.

This iconic struggle between the Achaeans and the Trojans was used as a milestone in chronology to date historical events.

The problem was they misdated the Trojan War by several hundred years, which automatically threw out the history of several nations, including the British.

Not only did they misdate Troy but they also missed completely the real reason for the start of the Trojan War, because the King who successfully married the heiress to the throne of Egypt would inevitably become the next Pharaoh and be granted the whole of Egypt as his prize.

The kidnapping of Helen by Paris then becomes very important when seen in this light. It provides the real reason why two superpowers of their time would go to war over a woman, because that woman was Helen, also known as Queen Ankhesenpa'aten, the widow of Tutankhamun, Pharaoh of Egypt.
